background and journey

Anda Dinu – a model, mother, wife, and the pillar of her home. Her remarkable ability to balance multiple roles with elegance speaks to her unwavering dedication to both her family and personal dreams. Born in the historic region of Western Moldavia, Anda's career led her to Milan and London, where she enjoyed success as a model. She met the love of her life, prompting her to relocate by the Black Sea [Constanta]. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to creating a stable and rooted family life, reflecting the strong family values with which she was raised. When she wants to slow down, you'll find her by the beach. Always in love with the coast, she believes her second home could easily be — Ibiza, where she travels with her family whenever possible.

We caught up with Anda to discuss life on the island and how both the local culture and her Romanian heritage have left a lasting imprint on her family life.

how would you describe your diet?

I gravitate toward a Mediterranean diet, though it takes on a different, more local shape when I’m in Constanta. My diet tends to focus on vegetables, grains, beans, and other wholesome ingredients. My current relationship with food is one of intrigue. It’s a relationship that I continually get to know better. I deeply appreciate how food finds us and its unique significance. I love learning about what cooking represents—whether it's tied to pain, joy, heritage, identity, or connection.

how has living on the island influenced your family's life?

The slower, more relaxed pace of island life has encouraged us to appreciate simple pleasures, like spending time outdoors and enjoying leisurely meals together. Me and my husband we are both into sea sports, like kitesurfing — it's a way for us to feel connected to the sea and its rhythms. Our son, Arun, has embraced a different connection with the sea—he's become quite the fisherman. He’s got all his tools, his small chair, and his wide-brimmed hat to protect him from the sun. These moments remind us of the deep connection to the land and water that shaped our upbringing.

what is it about the energy that makes it so special to you?

It smoothly combines healthy, conscious living with a vibrant, playful way of experiencing life. Farm-to-table food, sustainable practices, the island’s open-minded atmosphere, dance culture as a form of expression, and natural healing therapies come together to nurture both body and soul.

is there a specific place that always calls you back ?

Es Vedrà, the mystical rock island off the southwest coast.

how has your child embraced the island culture ?

He is enjoying the island’s freedom, traditional food, learning about the people who live in Ibiza and experiencing the traditional instrumental and folk dance, often performed during local festivals.

favorite places:

hotel Los Enamorados, located in the village of Portinatx, is where we got married. The owners, Roze and Pierre, created a space where they could merge their love for travel, design, and the joy of bringing people together.

restaurants

Xiringuito Xuclar is hands down one of my top spots in Ibiza — a true hidden gem with a laid-back vibe and food that could easily earn a Michelin star. There’s something incredibly luxurious about savoring a meal with your toes in the sand, that ultimate combination of pleasure and simplicity.

Amante, on the other hand, is where you elevate your lunch game. After a hike with sweeping views of the island’s eastern coast, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a refined meal with one of the best panoramas Ibiza has to offer.

As for Bucharest, my go-to for takeout is M.A.T. The sea bass and chipotle tacos never disappoint. If my husband is traveling for a day of meetings, he always picks up two portions to bring home for us to share—a small ritual that makes the end of a busy day feel special.

coffee shops

BOB Coffee Lab in Bucharest, recently featured in the World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops 2025, is an absolute must for any coffee aficionado.

Chez Bibi von Bakery is where you’ll find me every time I’m on the island. Whether it’s after a Pilates class or following a late night out, I love slowing down and soaking in the serene charm of Santa Gertrudis village over the most exquisite breakfast. The pastries here are nothing short of divine.

bars/ clubs i’m not one for bars—being a true foodie, I’ll always opt for a long, leisurely lunch or dinner over a night out at a bar. When it comes to clubs, it always needs to be something really worth going. Working in this industry made me kind of saturated with parties that sometimes look all the same. But for an experience that’s truly one-of-a-kind, I always gravitate towards Pikes and the Namaste party at Las Dalias.

hiking routes now that’s a tough one! The Cala d’en Serra 5-hour hike is among my favorites. There’s also a hike starting in Cala Llonga. But with Ibiza, you hardly get a chance to discover them all, as every new hike steals your heart, and you keep wanting to go back. The island has so much more to offer. I have some Ibicencos friends who’ve been living here since birth, and they still find new routes and pathways in the island’s magical landscape.

For discovering even more, the Komoot app is a great tool! Plus, the photos from fellow hikers can really give you a taste of what’s in store, making it even more enticing to try new paths.

markets Las Dalias, Punta Arabi, Sant Jordi

hair salon/ nails/ massage/ spa/ facial The spa at Six Senses is incredible. They have a team of talented therapists who provide massages and holistic experiences. Honestly, when I’m in Ibiza, I don’t bother styling my hair. I fully embrace the island's vibe, surrendering to the moment and allowing myself to just be.

It’s all about honoring my true self and enjoying every part of the experience. That’s what I love most about this place!

When I’m at home, it’s always Miruna Mocanu who takes care of my skin—she truly works wonders.

beauty products or self-care routines that you consider essential to your daily routine I’m a total Biologique Recherche fanatic. While all of their products have a distinctive scent, I’m convinced that somehow adds to their restorative powers. I couldn’t live without lip balm, and dry brushing is a must for my body. Where to buy - The A

workout I’m all about weight training, but I mix in Pilates sometimes. Yoga is part of my routine too, though I see it more as a spiritual practice than a workout.

books – Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Freedom from the Known by J. Krishnamurti, and The Ethics of Ambiguity by Simone de Beauvoir. Currently reading The Handmaid's Tale, which explores themes of gender, power, and oppression in a dystopian society. It’s a gripping and thought-provoking novel.
